Within challenging learning environments, arts-based intervention strategies promote a sense of community, foster positive school culture, and may play a key role in larger school reform initiatives (Stevenson & Deasy, 2005).
Students in arts integrated schools develop improved attitudes towards school and learning and have fewer disciplinary problems (Barry, 2010).
Arts integration encourages dynamic instructional practices that promote deeper learning, while at the same time rejuvenating teachers at risk of leaving the teaching profession (Bellisario & Donovan, 2012).
